Bio: Dr. Hamilton is a native of Paducah, KY. He is a practicing pediatrician and the owner of Centennial Pediatrics, a large multi-site, multi-specialty pediatric medical practice based in Nashville. He began his practice in 1990 as a solo practitioner. The practice has now grown to include eleven locations with over 30 pediatricians and 12 pediatric nurse practitioners. In addition to its core pediatric primary care services, the practice also has a number of subsidiaries including Pediatric Hospitalists of Nashville, Pediatric Specialists of Nashville, Nuestros Ninos and the Baptist Hospital Newborn Hearing Screening Program.

Dr. Hamilton has devoted his practice to the provision of quality health care to infants and children of all racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. In 1994, with the introduction of TennCare, many community pediatricians initially refused to participate in what was considered to be a controversial program of Medicaid managed care. Dr. Hamilton made the decision to aggressively tackle TennCare and created a primary care center called Nashville Primary Care for Children. This facility was dedicated to the care of all children despite their ability to pay or insurance status, with physicians and nurse practitioners providing care in the medical home model proposed by the American Academy of Pediatrics. That office has now grown to become Centennial Pediatrics largest care facility and includes Nuestros Ninos (Our Kids), the only fully bilingual pediatric practice in Nashville.

Dr. Hamilton is an advocate for children and young adults, currently serving as the president of the Tennessee Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Hamilton was appointed to the Childrens Cabinet by Governor Bredesen in 2004. In addition, he has served on the boards of Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital and Centennial Medical Center. He is a past chair of pediatrics at Centennial Medical Center. For many years, Dr. Hamilton served as the director of the College Ministry at Schrader Lane Church of Christ. Currently, Dr. Hamilton sits on the board of University School of Nashville. In 2010, Dr. Hamilton started the Centennial Pediatrics Foundation, a non-profit entity that supports the mission of Centennial Pediatrics through philanthropic gifts that support the unmet medical needs of the greater Nashville community, with emphasis on patient education, community outreach and clinical research.

Dr. Hamilton completed his residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 1988. He earned his Medical Degree from Vanderbilt University, School of Medicine in 1985 and prior to that, he received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Dr. Hamilton is a member of the Governors Childrens Cabinet; the Minority Health Advisory Council; the TNAAP/TennCare EPSDT Council; the TennCare Medical Advisory Committee; the Cumberland Pediatric Foundation; the Tennessee Pediatric Society Foundation; and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Hamilton is married to the former Arnetta Davie. They share four children, Corey, Janean, Lance and Myles. He has been a member of the Schrader Lane Church of Christ since his arrival to Nashville in 1981.
